And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the heavens; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
Daniel 12:3
This is my life verse, that my parents gave me as a wee babe. Thank you, parents. What a beautiful thing to aspire to. When I was in grade six, I prayed fervently for wisdom. I wanted to be like the brightness of the heavens! I believe that God granted that request, though I have made many bad decisions since that period of prayer. Thank you, God, for discernment and wisdom.
This just leaves “those who turn many to righteousness.” Hmmm.. That’s harder to gauge. I love listening to the stories of wise people in my life about how they led people to the Lord. I would love to be able to tell such stories, but I have not seen that happen in my life. Leading others to righteousness, that is. Not to say that it hasn’t happened, but I just haven’t seen it. Perhaps it is for the best. Perhaps God knows I’d think I was all that if I saw my own success in leading others to righteousness. Perhaps I haven’t even done that great a job at leading others to righteousness…
Lord, I pray that by my actions and my words and by Your Spirit living in me that I would turn many to righteousness, like my life verse says.
